Since 1975, L & M has been known for its demonstration of strong character and for offering programs and services designed to empower your athlete for life.  Values are practiced daily as athletes grow to become vibrant and responsible young adults.

The L & M environment is dedicated to teaching the skills, poise, self-discipline, stamina, strength coordination and confidence so our athletes develop a positive self-image during their developmental years.

About Our Leaders

Coaches Leroy and Merrill McDaniels have been the owners and operators of

L & M since its creation in 1975.  Coach Leroy, known as the "Trainer of Champions", is one of the most highly-regarding gymnastics coaches in the nation.  In 1998, he was inducted into the Springfield Sports Hall of Fame for his lifelong contributions to the sport of Gymnastics.

In 1997, Coach Merrill received the "Women of Excellence" award from the Springfield YWCA for her leadership, integrity, self-development and commitment to improving the quality of life in Springfield.

L & M consistently attracts coaches committed to bringing out the best in young athletes - teaching them not only gymnastics skills, but also life lessons that they will be able to use in their educational and professional lives.

Honors & Awards

  • Honorary Host - John Hancock Gymnastics Goodwill Games.

  • Outstanding Community Support Thank You Award - Springfield Boys and Girls Clubs.

  • Business Award for Meritorious Contribution to the Community - Springfield NAACP.

  • Host - Farnham Royal Gymnastics Club, Berkshire England.

  • Nine L & M gymnasts were designated "Goodwill Ambassadors" by the Commander General for their contributions to Expo 92 held in Seville, Spain.  Gymnasts also travelled to Sweden, Denmark, Germany, France and Morocco.

  • L & M athletes have won medals at regional, national and international competitions.
